Krystal Vogel will be a student teacher in our classroom during January and February. We are excited to have another teacher in our room. She is teaching a unit about stars and the planets now. Some vocabulary words we are learning are: constellations (Draco, Big and Little Dippers, Cassiopeia and Orion), the planets, orbit, day, night, star, sun, Star Lab, revolving and rotation. On Tuesday, we will be going into a portable planetarium, Star Lab. During Calendar we are learning a planet song. In February we will be studying maps and so we are also learning a states and presidents song.
Our new math chapter is measuring. This week we compared lengths, sorted by length and measured lengths. We will work more with measuring this week and then work on weight and capacity.
It is so nice to have a few days in January that we do not have to wear boots and snow pants.
